The Bandwidth of Information

Working with various organizations, it has been my constant frustration that I don’t always seem to get my bosses to ‘understand’ what I believe to be important.

I had a very smart person commented to me a year ago that it is not really my bosses job to understand, its mine. I have been trying for a year to internalize that thought.

It came up again today and I fell upon an idea that I think is minorly brillant. You need to start by thinking about who you are trying to reach and how you can reach them.

This provides a measure of the BANDWIDTH you have for you message. You then need to craft the information to fit inside the constraints of the bandwidth.
